Paul wraps up his letter to the Corinthians by warning them that he is coming soon, and he’d better find them behaving themselves, or else!
He did indeed get to Corinth, as Luke tells us in Acts, and we hope that he was not disappointed in what he found.
But very soon he is writing again, to another church, similarly troubled by the Judaizers.
He begins his letter to the Galatians by plunging in to the debates straight away: “ I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all.” (1:6-7)  He themn immediately justified himself by explaining at length how he learned about Christianity - making it clear that he had it from the highest authority - Peter himself, and that he corrected Peter when Peter was led astray. “ I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.” (2:11)
He can’t stand the thought of the Galatians turning away from the gospel of Christ and going back to trying to satisfy the demands of the law, which cannot lead to salvation, as he explains.
It was all leading up to Jesus, he tells them. Don’t worship the signpost, worship what it’s pointing to!
