Jehoshaphat is definitely a good guy. Not only has he got the coolest name, he’s got the right instincts. When trouble approaches, he turns to God.

Today’s story of victory by singing seems almost ridiculous - the choir leading the army into battle! It reminds me of the series of unlikely weapons that Samson used with great effect. When the Lord is on your side, you don’t need to fight very hard.  The Chronicler loves this - here is a king doing things properly - coming to pray before God before battle, trusting in the power of God, not human strength, and best of all, worship even on the battlefield.
The reading today is sprinkled with Psalm, like it was in David’s day. With Jehoshaphat on the throne, things don’t look so bad.
